Post Card from Marc Coene

Post Card from Marc Coene

And your eyes like smoke and your prayers like rhymes,
And your silver cross, and your voice like chimes,

Marc Coene, Gent Belgium has contributed a wonderful collage post card for Bob. It is about 5 by 7 inches. The writing around the edges hints that Marc is thinking about Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands (one of my favorits too). Bob appears to be playing left handed guitar in this scene in Flanders!
Thank you Marc, for this super contribution.

The Door Knob Broke

Bob Dylan Revisited....
Originally uploaded by Ed Giecek.
"Yes, I received your letter yesterday
(About the time the door knob broke)
When you asked how I was doing
Was that some kind of joke?
All these people that you mention
Yes, I know them, they're quite lame
I had to rearrange their faces
And give them all another name
Right now I can't read too good
Don't send me no more letters no
Not unless you mail them
From Desolation Row
"

--Bob Dylan

Thank'zZ to everyone sending in mail for the Happy 64th Birthday Bob Dylan Mailart project!

Mixed Up Confusion

Man, it's a-killin' me

Well, there's too many people
And they're all too hard to please

Well, my hat's in my hand
Babe, I'm walkin' down the line

An' I'm lookin' for a woman
Whose head's mixed up like mine
"

--Bob Dylan

This 6 by 9 inch envelope features 8 line drawings -- each one inspired by a Dylan song!

Inside the envelope are 3 more sheets of line drawings (see next post).

Thank'zZ RAEL!!

The Sticker Dude Strikes Again
Originally uploaded by Ed Giecek.
"You fasten the triggers
For the others to fire
Then you sit back and watch
As the death count gets higher
You hide in your mansion
As young people's blood
Flows out of their bodies
And is buried in the mud
"

--Bob Dylan

This envelope from Joel Cohen (The Sticker Dude) measures just under 6 by 9 inches. Looks like a printed copy of a Ruud Janssen envelope altered by Joel, with a quote printed on front by Guy Bleus.

On the back is printed; RUUD STICKER DUDE BLEUS ENVELOPE Printed by Ragged Edge Press, N.Y.C.

You know I love her
Yeah I love her
I'm in love with the Ugliest Girl in the World

A letter from home...

"She got a letter once in a while and her face broke into a smile
As she showed them to the people from next door.
And she bragged about her son with his uniform and gun,
And these things you called a good old-fashioned war.

Oh! Good old-fashioned war!
"

--Bob Dylan

Hay... I found this envelope posted on Sylvia Sometimes blog. It seems to fit the Bob Dylan mailart theme somehow :)
Thank'zZ Sylvia!

You that build all the guns
You that build the death planes
You that build the big bombs
You that hide behind walls

I just want you to know
I can see through your masks
"

--Bob Dylan

The card and envelope come from Joel Cohen (The Sticker Dude) In New York City. Ficus sent me the post card in September and I added my egg head stamp to it and passed it on to Joel. He now returns it with a Dylan image, his own image, and a Dylan quote (from "Masters Of War") all stamped onto the card.
Thank'zZ Joel!

My Cup'a Meat

Originally uploaded by Ed Giecek.

But when Quinn the Eskimo gets here,
All the pigeons gonna run to him.
Come all without, come all within,
You'll not see nothing like the mighty Quinn.

But she said, "Don't forget,
Everybody must give something back
For something they get.

This 5 by 7 inch post card comes from Michael Leigh in Merry olde England. Thank'zZ Michael!
4th Time Around came to mind as I viewed yer card! Except for the eyes part. Dylan's eyes are pretty damned hard to break...

Here is the first mailart received for Bob Dylan's 64th Birthday! It comes from Sylvia Sometimes, Somverville MA, USA. Thank you Sylvia!

The large brown envelope is decorated with a poitalistic Dylan image. The collage inside is awesome! A wonderful piece, Sylvia.

All in all -- a fantastic start for the Dylan project.

And as Dylan points out above, it is the first one now... but later this blog entry will be buried under new entries, so it will become "last" in the list (thank'zZ Bob). And thank'zZ again Sylvia!!
